Duration: 3 days

Overview:

There are over 1700 Changing Places toilets across the UK, plus many more coming soon, following the £30 million Government funding.

It is vital that the attractions, and venues ensure their staff have an awareness of these facilities.

There are over 250,000 people in the U.K. who need changing when they are out. In the past this has meant that they face a choice between staying at home, going out for just a couple of hours at a time or face the prospect of being changed on a public toilet floor: something which is unhygienic, undignified and unacceptable in 21st century Britain.
Changing Places changes all that, providing large, hygienic spaces equipped with a height-adjustable changing bench and hoist meaning that those who need them can be changed with dignity.
This three hour workshop explains the need for Changing Places as well as the costs, benefits and opportunities associated with provided one of these special facilities.

Objectives:

By the end of the workshop you will have:

  • Understood what Changing Places are, who needs them and why
  • Increased your awareness of the specification, benefits, costs and management issues involved with providing a Changing Places facility
  • Learned from the experience of our Changing Places campaign in Derbyshire
  • Had the opportunity to ask questions and discuss issues
  • Developed an action plan for the way forward
